History of science, scientific popularisation

The BNU began constituting its collection on scientific popularisation and the history of science in 1992.

Whereas the collections on science and medicine are held by the University's Joint Documentation Service ("SCD"), it was felt that it was useful for the BNU to be able to offer its readers, on BNU premises, a collection of documents popularising science and the history of science and technology directed at a non-specialist audience, providing substance in support of thinking and research in a range of fields, including science and ethics, science and religion, science and society, sustainable development, ecology, zoology, climatology, biology, information technology, etc.

The BNU currently offers a collection of more than 12 000 works popularising science and medicine.

It subscribes to 44 printed periodicals and 62 online journals in this field.
